Hitchens '10: Atheist "Spirituality"

PLEASE SUB TO THIS CHANNEL & ALSO HERE: https://www.youtube.com/user/NightjarFlying Full version here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7LiKGHWB-Y Sunday 30th May 2010, 8.30pm. Venue: Barclays Wealth Pavilion. Christopher Hitchens in conversation with Peter Stothard, editor of the TLS. The great contrarian returns to Hay to launch his memoir of Confessions and Contradictions: Hitch-22 http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2011/12/In-Memoriam-Christopher-Hitchens-19492011 Vanity Fair In Memoriam: Christopher Hitchens, 1949--2011, by Juli Weiner, Dec 15th 2011. Christopher Hitchens—the incomparable critic, masterful rhetorician, fiery wit, and fearless bon vivant—died today at the age of 62. Hitchens was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in the spring of 2010, just after the publication of his memoir, Hitch-22, and began chemotherapy soon after. "My chief consolation in this year of living dyingly has been the presence of friends," he wrote in the June 2011 issue. He died in their presence, too, at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. May his 62 years of living, well, so livingly console the many of us who will miss him dearly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Stothard Christopher Eric Hitchens (born 13 April 1949) is an Anglo-American author and journalist whose books, essays, and journalistic career span more than four decades. He has been a columnist and literary critic at The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, Slate, World Affairs, The Nation, Free Inquiry, and became a media fellow at the Hoover Institution in September 2008. He is a staple of talk shows and lecture circuits and in 2005 was voted the world's fifth top public intellectual in a Prospect/Foreign Policy poll. He's known for his admiration of George Orwell, Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson and for his excoriating critiques of, among others, Mother Teresa, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Henry Kissinger. His confrontational style of debate has made him both a lauded and controversial figure. As a political observer, polemicist and self-defined radical, he rose to prominence as a fixture of the left-wing publications in his native Britain and in the United States. His departure from the established political left began in 1989 after what he called the "tepid reaction" of the Western left following Ayatollah Khomeini's issue of a fatwa- calling for the murder of Salman Rushdie. The 11 September 2001 attacks strengthened his internationalist embrace of an interventionist foreign policy, and his vociferous criticism of what he called "fascism with an Islamic face." His numerous editorials in support of the Iraq War caused some to label him a neoconservative, although Hitchens insists he is not "a conservative of any kind." Theoretical - Philosophical Physics : Space and Time into a single Continuum

"Watch the Stars and From them Learn"-Albert Einstein Research @ http://www.youtube.com/sn1pe352 "Put your hand on a hot stove for a Minute, and it seems like an Hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an Hour, and it seems like a Minute. THAT'S RELATIVITY."-Albert Einstein "Apparently we are living in a Bose-Einstein Condensate in which all particles are immersed. If we turned it off, mass would vanish and everything would fly apart in a nanosecond," The first known philosopher Thales of Miletus taught that all things derive from a single first cause or Arche (Water) he also taught that the world is harmonious, and is intelligible to rational understanding I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals Itself in the orderly harmony of what exists"-Albert Einstein "Spinoza contended that everything that exists in Nature (i.e., everything in the Universe) is one Reality (substance) and there is only one set of rules governing the whole of the reality" This Paradigm is in line with James Clerk Maxwell's concept that the universe is existing in a dynamic medium that has many properties very much like those found in fluids such as water "According to the general theory of relativity space without aether is unthinkable." - A.Einstein, Sidelights on Relativity, 1922, page 23. "Fisk's model suggests that the magnetic field lines coming from the Sun look like a wild tornado" Michael Faraday (1791-1867) "I cannot conceive curved lines of force without the conditions of a physical existence in that intermediate space." James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879) "...we cannot help thinking that in every place where we find these lines of force, some physical state or action must exist in sufficient energy to produce the actual phenomena." LOOK up at the sky. Almost everything out there is spinning around: stars, galaxies, planets, moons - they are all rotating. Yet physicists believe that the universe itself is not revolving. Why? There's countless numbers of physicist who think it is entirely possible that our universe is spinning on an axis. If these people are right, it could make understanding the universe a whole lot simpler. You could stop worrying about the big problems in cosmology: the origin of the big bang, the nature of dark energy and maybe dark matter too. You could get rid of the strange idea that the universe went through a superfast period of expansion known as inflation. You might even be able to halt the attempt to find a theory that marries together quantum theory and Einstein's general theory of relativity. Is it so hard to let the cosmos spin? Yes, it is, at least while general relativity rules the universe. In order to solve the hideously complex equations of general relativity - Einstein's theory of gravity - cosmologists assume that the universe is the same in every direction. Although general relativity can allow the universe to rotate, rotation requires an axis, and a cosmic axis of rotation would bestow a "special" direction on the universe - along the axis. Since there is no observational evidence that such a direction exists, the assumption has always been that the universe is not rotating. Mazur has a simple response to this: don't assume that general relativity has all the answers. Where do they get this heretical idea from? "From looking at where general relativity breaks down," Mazur says. General relativity provides an excellent description of what happens in the normal, day-to-day events in the universe, but it fails in "extreme" circumstances. Its equations are unable to tell us anything precise about events such as high-energy particle collisions, for instance, or the collapse of stars into black holes. Mazur and Chapline say, is in the way it allows time to break down. General relativity allows the formation of loops in time in certain circumstances. Sometimes, for instance, a kind of one-dimensional fault line in space-time known as a "cosmic string" can form. When such a string spins rapidly around an axis along its length, it creates a loop in time; travel round one of these "closed time-like curves" (CTCs) and you'll keep coming back to the same moment in time. Mazur and Chapline contend that, according to general relativity, the same thing can happen with a rotating black hole. The trouble is, quantum theory requires time to be "universal" - there should never be closed loops of time isolated from the time in the rest of the universe. That means quantum theory can't work everywhere in a universe governed by general relativity. relativity's view of space and time - what cosmologists call the vacuum - must be wrong. "There is but One universe, One Mind, One force, One substance. The substance, or body, of God is light. The substance of all 'created' things is light. Light is the living substance of Mind in action. Life is the pulsing, electro-magnetic oscillation of thinking mind."-Walter Russell

David Talbott: Exposing the Myths of "Settled Science" | NPA19

Wal Thornhill and Dave Talbott will each give two thought-provoking presentations at EU2014 Conference: All About Evidence, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, March 20 - 24, 2014. For more information on all the speakers start here: http://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/2013/09/10/eu2014-home-page/ Is it possible that the foundational assumptions of the theoretical sciences all express a common misunderstanding? From cosmology, the "queen of the sciences," a core dogma of the 20th century filtered down through every discipline, constraining our ideas about galaxy and star formation and ultimately (from the same underlying assumptions) all of the space sciences, infecting our views of earth history and even our sense of what it means to be human. The core dogma was the idea that gravity alone, seen through the lens of general relativity, rules the cosmos. Dispelling this most common misconception has become the essential requirement for scientific progress, since all of the new evidence makes clear that we live in an Electric Universe. David Talbott presented this talk at the annual meeting of the Natural Philosophy Alliance, University of Maryland, July 10-13, 2013. Part Two of the talk will be given at the upcoming The Thunderbolts Project(TM) conference (Electric Universe 2014: All About Evidence) March 20-24, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. See www.thunderbolts.info for announcement in September 2013. Our Changing Climate and the Variable Sun | Space News

Both Don Scott and Wal Thornhill will be featured speakers at the upcoming Thunderbolts conference, Electric Universe 2014—All About Evidence, March 20-24 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Also featured at the conference, on related topics, will be Ben Davidson of "Suspicious Observers," one of the Internet's most respected websites devoted to the exploration of enigmatic space weather. See the exceptional list of speakers here: http://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/2013/09/10/eu2014-speakers/ Solar physicists around the world today are wondering: has the Sun fallen silent? In 2013, the Sun began the peak phase of its 11-year sun spot cycle called the Solar Maximum when sun spot production should be at its highest. However, the lack of sun spot activity has left solar physicists startled. Ben Davidson on Climate and the Variable Sun | Space News

Ben Davidson will be joining Wal Thornhill and Dave Talbott on the opening night of EU2014 Conference: All About Evidence, March 20-24 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Click here for more information: http://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/2013/09/10/eu2014-home-page/ Popular media around the world today present a singular narrative on the topic of global warming, or so-called "climate change." This narrative tells us that scientists overwhelmingly agree that man's industrial activities are changing the climate and weather. Not only does this story dominate television and newspaper coverage, but recently even science websites have explicitly stated their intolerance of dissenting opinions. The Electric Comet | Full Documentary

Wal Thornhill and Dave Talbott will each give two thought-provoking presentations at EU2014 Conference: All About Evidence, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, March 20 - 24, 2014. For more information on all the speakers start here: http://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/2013/09/10/eu2014-home-page/ URGENT: PLEASE READ THIS. The video presented here is still in development. For the present listing of credits (being developed simultaneously with extensive scientific review), see our credits page: http://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/2013/08/05/electric-comet-credits/ We believe that this critical analysis of textbook comet theory can have a major impact on human understanding of these remarkable bodies. It can also reach well beyond the specialized science of comets to provoke a reconsideration of the Sun, planetary history, and a good deal more. We live in an Electric Universe, and the enigmatic behavior of comets provides unique insights into the role of charged particles and electrified plasma throughout the Cosmos. We ask for your help in inviting scientists and other centers of influence to consider the factual content in this film. For the next 60-90 days we will consider all critical suggestions prior to final editing, and we'll be especially diligent in addressing any statements of fact that a knowledgeable viewer may call into question. Our conviction is that essential facts, now confirmed by leading investigators, will not allow the institutions of science to hold onto theories that, for too long, have been proclaimed as established science. The "Impossible" Exoplanet | Space News

Physicist Wal Thornhill will give two thought-provoking presentations at EU2014 Conference: All About Evidence, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, March 20 - 24, 2014. For more information see http://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/2013/09/10/eu2014-home-page/ A newly discovered exoplanet poses a radical challenge to the consensus theory of planet and star formation. The massive exoplanet is eleven times the size of Jupiter yet it circles its parent star at a distance that is 650X the average distance between the Earth and the Sun. In the conventional theory, which imagines stars forming gravitationally in a collapsing cloud of gas and dust, such a giant planet cannot form at such a vast distance from its star. The Electric Sun - Tribute to the Thunderbolts Project - The Electric Universe - Comet ISON 6 Tails

The Electric Sun - Tribute to the Thunderbolts Project - The Electric Universe - http://thunderbolts.info - Electric Universe Synopsis: In the wake of recent discoveries, a new way of seeing the physical universe is emerging. It emphasizes the role of electricity in space and shows the negligible contribution of gravity in cosmic events. Images returned by high-powered telescopes and recent space probes have challenged astronomers' long-standing assumptions about galaxies and their constituent stars, about the evolution of our solar system, and about the nature and history of Earth. The new discoveries also suggest that our early ancestors may have witnessed awe inspiring electrical events in the heavens—the source of myths and symbols around the world. Cosmology Today, we are seeing things in space that were never imagined. We detect magnetic fields everywhere, even in the "empty" depths of intergalactic space. Magnetic fields cannot exist without causative electric currents. The naked electric force is 39 orders of magnitude (a thousand billion billion billion billion times) stronger than gravity. The visible universe is constituted almost entirely of electrically active plasma. In the twentieth century the pioneers of plasma science inspired a new school of investigation called plasma cosmology. Plasma cosmologists suggest that electricity is the primary force organizing spiral galaxies and the astonishing galactic clusters now seen in deep space. Plasma cosmology has achieved surprising success in predicting major discoveries of the space age. This new perspective does not require purely theoretical inventions like the Big Bang, dark matter, dark energy, neutron stars, or Black Holes. Stars The "Electric Universe" extends the findings of plasma cosmology to the formation and evolution of stars and their planetary satellites. Proponents of the Electric Universe suggest that there are no isolated islands in the universe. All objects in space, from subatomic particles to galactic clusters, are connected by manifestations of the electric force acting in realtime. Stars are formed at the intersections of galactic current filaments in dusty space plasma. It is electricity that continues to energize the stars in a form of glow discharge, our Sun included. This external power source explains why the temperature of the Sun increases above the photosphere, to coronal temperatures of 2 million degrees. Powerful plasma feedback effects maintain a steady output of visible solar radiation while variations in power input show up in the familiar sunspot cycle. It is in the nature of a glow discharge that all stars possess a weak electric field beyond the corona. As charged particles of the solar wind move away from the Sun, they continue to be accelerated due to the Sun's electric field. The size of a star and its color are determined electrically and may change suddenly. Novae and supernovae are the explosive response of stars to a power surge in their galactic circuit. Comets Comets are electrically charged bodies moving on elliptical orbits through the Sun's interplanetary electric field. A comet's swift radial movement as it approaches the Sun, develops arcing on the nucleus. The arcs produce jets of dust and ions that form the coma and visible tails. Many comets are solid rocks with dry surfaces. The sharply defined features of comet nuclei make clear that they are not "dirty snowballs" sublimating in the Sun. Due to the electric force, a comet can entrain a mass of hydrogen from the Sun greater than the mass of the comet's nucleus. The unexpected X-rays of a cometary discharge can reach 2 million degrees Cometary nuclei reveal deeply cratered and blackened surfaces due to electric arcing. Since comet nuclei are eroded electrically, they could not survive across eons of solar system history. Many comets were born in catastrophic events only a few thousand years ago.

Space News | The SAFIRE Project:Testing the Electric Sun

Outside of the earth, the Sun is the most heavily studied body in the solar system. Yet almost all of the Sun's features present major quandaries for solar physicists. But now, an expert on "Design of Experiment" methodologies, Monty Childs, is heading up a project to demonstrate how an electrified plasma environment can produce the enigmatic features of the Sun in the laboratory. Monty and his research group are confident that the technology is now available to rigorously test the electric Sun hypothesis.

Red Ice Radio - David Talbott - Hour 1 - The Electric Universe & The Saturn Myth

David Talbott is a comparative mythologist whose work offers a radical new vantage point on the origin of ancient cultural themes and symbols. He is the author of The Saturn Myth and co-author with Wallace Thornhill of Thunderbolts of the Gods and The Electric Universe. David is the founder and director of The Thunderbolts Project. In the first hour, we return to the Thunderbolts Project and recap its prime mission, to explore the Electric Universe paradigm. David discusses elements of the electric universe such as the sun, the magnetic field and comets. We'll also talk about David's inspiration, Worlds in Collision written by Immanuel Velikovsky. The ancient record shows points in the sky that cross reference between cultures to reconstruct our past. In the member's hour, we continue on the nature of electricity. We also discuss symbols of Saturn. Talbott argues that the "Great God" or "Universal Monarch" of the ancients was not the sun, but Saturn, which once hung ominously close to the earth, and visually dominated the heavens. The first religious symbols were symbols of Saturn. Saturn's appearance at the time, radically different from today, inspired man's leap into civilization. Later, we discuss more celestial symbolism, mythology and cultural agreements. http://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/

What Is A Pulsar?

This question comes from William. He writes "Hi Fraser, I was wondering if you could do a video on pulsars like you did on quasars." You got it. Stars are held in perfect balance between the pressure of gravity pulling them inward, and the outward force of radiation. Once stars runs out of fuel, they collapses in on themselves - it's the amount of mass decides what happens next. The most massive stars detonate as supernovae, and can explode or collapse into black holes. If they're less massive, like our Sun, they blast away their outer layers and then slowly cool down as white dwarfs. But for stars between 1.4 and 3.2 times the mass of the Sun, they may still become supernovae, but they just don't have enough mass to make a black hole. These medium mass objects end their lives as neutron stars, and some of these can become pulsars or magnetars. Gravity overwhelms the atomic bonds of the matter in a neutron star, crushing protons and electrons together into neutrons. This is how they get their name. A star that used to be more than a million kilometers wide is now less than 20 kilometers across. This material is so dense, that a single sugar cube's worth weigh about 100 million tonnes on Earth. And you would need to be traveling 100,000 km/s to escape a neutron star's pull - about 1/3rd the speed of light. So that's how you get a neutron star. But what about these pulsars? When these stars collapse, they maintain their angular momentum. But with a much smaller size, their rotational speed increases dramatically, spinning many times a second. This relatively tiny, super dense object, emits a powerful blast of radiation along its magnetic field lines. Although this beam of radiation doesn't necessarily line up with it's axis of rotation. And so, from here on Earth, astronomers detect an intense beam of radio emissions several times a second, as it rotates around like a lighthouse beam. This is a pulsar. The first one was detected in 1967 by Jocelyn Bell Burnell and Antony Hewis. They detected a mysterious radio emission coming from a fixed point in the sky that peaked every 1.33 seconds. Although they were certain it had a natural origin, they named it LGM-1, which stands for "little green men", and subsequent discoveries have helped astronomers discover the true nature of these strange objects. Pulsars have been discovered emitting many different wavelengths of light, from radio to visible and even X and gamma rays. There have been a total of 1600 found so far, and the fastest discovered emits 716 pulses a second. When a pulsar first forms, it has the most energy and fastest rotational speed. As it releases electromagnetic power through its beams, it gradually slows down. Within 10 to 100 million years, it slows to the point that its beams shut off and the pulsar becomes quiet. When they are active, they spin with such uncanny regularity that they're used as timers by astronomers. Pulsars help us search for gravitational waves, probe the interstellar medium, and even find extrasolar planets in orbit. It has even been proposed that spacecraft could use them as beacons to help navigate around the Solar System. On NASA's Voyager spacecraft, there are maps that show the direction of the Sun to 14 pulsars in our region. If aliens wanted to find our home planet, they couldn't ask for a more accurate map. I hope that helps, William.
