In the video dated July 4 2012, Joe Incandela, a spokesman for Cern, announces that scientists "have observed a new particle". "We have quite strong evidence that there's something there. Its properties are still going to take us a little bit of time. "But we can see that it decays to two photons, for example, which tells us it's a boson, it's a particle with integer spin. And we know its mass is roughly 100 times the mass of the proton. And this is very significant. This is the most massive such particle that exists, if we confirm all of this, which I think we will," Mr Incandela, the CMS Spokesperson says. "And this is very, very significant. It's something that may, in the end, be one of the biggest observations of any new new phenomena in our field in the last 30 or 40 years, going way back to the discovery of quarks, for example," he adds. The origin of mass has been fiercely debated for decades **Credit to the UK Telegraph for the amazing video

So it has finally been announced (4th July 2012) that the Higgs boson has been discovered but what is it? Almost 50 years ago Peter Higgs proposed the existence of the Higgs boson and since then scientists have been looking for it! At the cost of billions of pounds, it has finally been found. Was it worth all the effort? In this Horizon episode first broadcast on 9th January 2012, Physicists working at CERN explain what the Higgs boson is? Is it really the biggest scientific discovery for a hundred years? Prof Jim Al-Khalli presents this Horizon Special produced by the BBC. Should Professor Peter Higgs get knighted and receive the Nobel Prize? Is the nickname "The God Particle" misleading?

This enormous tornado erupting from the surface of the sun is big enough to swallow the Earth. In fact, it could swallow five Earths. Discovered using NASA's Solar Dynamic Observatory satellite, this colossal twisting mass is made up of superheated gas at a temperature of between 90,000 and 3.6 million degrees Fahrenheit. Over the course of three hours, this behemoth reached up from the sun's surface to a height of 125,000 miles, or roughly half the distance between the Earth and the moon. The hot gases were whipped up to nearly 186,000 miles per hour. In comparison, the wind speed of terrestrial tornadoes generally reaches a paltry 100 miles per hour. Scientists have previously seen smaller solar tornadoes with other sun-observing satellites but this one — spotted in September 2011 — is thought to be the first one ever filmed (left). Since then, researchers have seen at least one more solar tornado, an Earth-sized twister seen in the video below. These tornadoes often precede events known as coronal mass ejections — huge eruptions of charged particles that blast out of the sun's surface with tremendous energy. Such flare-ups are thought to be related to interactions among the sun's magnetic field lines, whose corkscrewing movements also shape the solar tornado. The top images and movie were presented at the National Astronomy Meeting 2012 in Manchester, England on Mar. 29.

The Large Hadron Collider is the largest and most complex scientific instrument ever built and the highest energy particle accelerator in the world. The accelerator is located 100 m underground and runs through both French and Swiss territory. ( 27km circumference) Year 2008 September 10th, marks the culmination of 20 years of work by over 8000 scientists thousands of engineers, technicians and support staff from over 80 different countries. some critics say that this could create a black hole and suck up the entire world. but many say that even if a black hole is created it will vanish within a millionth of a second.. for more info follow these links. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator . It is expected to address some of the most fundamental questions of physics, advancing the understanding of the deepest laws of nature. The LHC lies in a tunnel 27 kilometres (17 mi) in circumference, as deep as 175 metres (574 ft) beneath the Franco-Swiss border nearGeneva, Switzerland. This synchrotron is designed to collide opposing particle beams of either protons at an energy of 7 teraelectronvolts (7 TeV or 1.12 microjoules) per nucleon, or lead nuclei at an energy of 574 TeV (92.0 µJ) per nucleus (2.76 TeV per nucleon). The term hadron refers to particles composed of quarks. The Large Hadron Collider was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) with the intention of testing various predictions of high-energy physics, including testing for the existence of the hypothesized Higgs boson and of the large family of new particles predicted by supersymmetry. It was built in collaboration with over 10,000 scientists and engineers from over 100 countries, as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories. Credit to Original Uploader
THIS POST IS DUE TO TODAY'S NEWS (December 13, 2011) LINK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-16158374 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-16116230 On November, 2007 the most complex scientific instrument ever built will be switched on. The Large Hadron Collider promises to recreate the conditions in the early universe. By revisiting the beginning of time, scientists hope to unravel some of the deepest secrets of our Universe. Within these first few moments the building blocks of the Universe were formed. The search for these fundamental particles has occupied scientists for decades but there remains one particle that has stubbornly refused to appear in any experiment. The Higgs Boson is so crucial to our understanding of the Universe that it has been dubbed the God particle. It explains how fundamental particles acquire mass, or as one scientist plainly states: "It is what makes stuff stuff..."

Thunderbolt the Tutorial is about the electrical model of the universe. In the universe plasma makes up 99.99% of everything we can see. Our current model has big flaws that has forced scientist to dream up things that don't exist in order to explain things that we see out there in space. Yet the electrical model can explain most of these things. So why don't we hear about this model? It's not mentioned on TV shows like The Universe or How The Earth Was Made, Discovery Channel, or even PBS, never talk about it, WHY? Electricity, that's why! If the universe has electrical currents flowing thru it, and it does, then it's just a matter of time before we would learn how to harness that energy. You would have to buy a devise that would output the power, but after that it would be free. Imagine being able to drive anywhere you wanted to without having to stop and fill up your tank every 200 or 300 miles. Imagine your home when it's 110 degrees outside, but inside a nice 75 degrees with no electric bill to eat up all your hard earned money. Could it be true? I believe it could, and this would defiantly be a reason for the energy companies to not want this known. _____________________________________________________ Related videos: The truth about dark energy, it's really zero point energy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqaLSulA_3I A short 10 min video about the electrical universe and plasma physics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPiGWIf3FjA Dr. Chuck Missler on The Electric Universe 1hr 43min lecture. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxLn06k2ATo Wallace Thornhill on the misconceptions of the electrical universe 13 min. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa9tsMztZPY Universe - The Cosmology Quest Pt 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6EGpg_BVBg&feature=channel_video_title Universe - The Cosmology Quest Pt 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7uT0JuKT8Q&feature=relmfu ______________________________________ For more informative videos like this one: http://youtube.com/davnxs http://youtube.com/thetruthalwaysaddsup _____________________________________ Now you can add my Playlist to your Channel. In science one of the best markers for the accuracy of a model or theory is how well it predicts outcomes. This applies not only to future events but can also be applied to existing data. Below is a collection of predictions based on Electric Universe principles, which have been confirmed by observations and data. The link above provides a list of pending predictions.

To honor this king of cosmology, an orbiting observatory named the Hubble Space Telescope was launched in 1990 after years of research and delay. Hubble's Heritage takes a closer look at this instrument, from its beginning as a flawed engineering nightmare to its evolution, through corrective optics, into humanity's eyes on the universe. Viewers see some of the astonishing images captured by the Hubble Space Telescope through the years and learn of their significance to astronomers. Designers of the next generation of space telescopes explain the challenges that must be met before Hubble's successors can reveal more mysteries of the universe.
