ScienceCasts: Did Earth Have Two Moons?
Visit http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2011/07sep_twomoons/ for the full story. Did our planet once have two moons? Some researchers say so. Moreover, the missing satellite might still be up there--splattered across the far side of the Moon. NASA's GRAIL mission could help confirm or refute the "two moon" hypothesis.

RIR W Thornhill The Electric Universe 12/12
Author and researcher Wallace Thorhill joins us to discuss his work and book "The Electric Universe". He has been working closely with David Talbot over at thunderbolts.info and he's one of the voices in the "Thunderbolts of the Gods" DVD. Previously we've had Donald Scott and Rens van der Sluijs with us on the program, also contributors to thunderbolts.info, now Wallace joins us for an excellent two hour program as we explore the exciting theory of the electric universe. Topics Discussed: Immanuel Velikovsky, The Saturn Myth, Ancient Solar system, Gravity, Electricity, Journal of Classical Physics, Einstein, the Electric Universe Theory, Quasars, Black Holes, The Standard Model of the Sun, Solar Activity, Anode, Glow Discharge, Photosphere, Magnetism, Twisted Pairs, DNA shape of a Galaxy, Dark Currents, Fractal, The Nature of Gravity, Infinite Speed, Nerve Signaling Speed, Tom Van Flandern, The Origins of the Universe, Longitudinal System, Tesla, Free Energy and more. Don't miss hour two coming up with Wallace Thornhill for Red Ice Members, a very interesting continuation as we talk about Deep Impact, Temple One, Comets, Gravity, Discharge, Lightning, Sprites, Earthquakes and the relationship between the Earth, the Sun, the Galaxy and the Universe. We also go into the very fascinating area of Proto-Saturn, Saturn as a Brown Dwarf, this is our origins, we talk about what Wall calls "the Purple Dawn of Creation" and where the mythology and stories comes from in terms of our ancient past with two suns. Our solar system used to be a Binary Star system. So what happened to Saturn, we can still see effects of that today with the rings of Saturn and the hexagonal glow at its poles? We talk about Venus, Mars, the Sun, The Moon and comet's. We also get Wall's take on the "Norway Spiral". We talk about Plasma Discharge, Time Travel and the search for E.T. as well. A lecture from the CERN website by Carlo Rovelli (who initially introduced the theory of loop quantum gravity in 1988). Date- 21.08.2008. Source- http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1121957?ln=en slides- http://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=30&resId=0&materialId=slides&confId=21917 From wiki- 'Loop quantum gravity (LQG), also known as loop gravity and quantum geometry, is a proposed quantum theory of spacetime which attempts to reconcile the theories of quantum mechanics and general relativity. It preserves many of the important features of general relativity, while at the same time employing quantization of both space and time at the Planck scale in the tradition of quantum mechanics. The technique of loop quantization was developed for the nonperturbative quantization of diffeomorphism-invariant gauge theory. Roughly, LQG tries to establish a quantum theory of gravity in which the very space, where all other physical phenomena occurs, becomes quantized.'

Towards a Spin Foam Model of Quantum Gravity
NOTE: pdf link for transparencies- http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/loops05/loops05.pdf Probably not everyones cup of tea. A clip from a lecture by John Baez in conjunction with the LOOPS 'O5 series by the Max Planck Institute of Gravitation (Albert Einstein Institute) regarding a proposal for quantum gravity (the clip appears to start at page 14 of the transparencies). Date- 11th Oct 05. Source- http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/loops05/ LOOPS '05- http://loops05.aei.mpg.de/ 'Spin foam models include several different classes of physical theories: lattice gauge theories, dynamical triangulation models of quantum gravity, "chain mail" quantum field theories, and topological string theories. Is there a spin foam model of quantum gravity in 4 dimensions? To address this question, we review recent work on causal dynamical triangulations and the renormalization group. This suggests that quantum gravity is a well-defined theory with the curious property that spacetime is effectively 4-dimensional at large distance scales, but 2-dimensional at very short distance scales. This is just what one might expect from a spin foam model, since spacetime is fundamentally 2-dimensional in these theories. We discuss properties a spin foam model should have in order to approximate general relativity at large distance scales.'

Einstein Gravity and the Expanding Universe
http://www.myspace.com/acorvettes Scientific understanding is always subject to change. Not long after Einstein proposed the cosmological constant, scientists observed that the universe was much bigger than previously thought; the astronomer Edwin Hubble concluded it was, in fact, expanding. Faced with this knowledge, Einstein renounced his own idea, calling it his "biggest blunder." Though Hubble's new findings were widely accepted, scientists now faced new questions: If the universe was so big and continuously expanding, what was driving expansion? And shouldn't the force of gravity at least be slowing it down?

In his works, he frequently advocated skeptical inquiry, secular humanism, and the scientific method. • http://www.carlsagan.com Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) was a German mathematician, astronomer and astrologer, and key figure in the 17th century scientific revolution. He is best known for his eponymous laws of planetary motion, codified by later astronomers based on his works "Astronomia nova", "Harmonices Mundi", and "Epitome of Copernican Astrononomy". They also provided one of the foundations for Isaac Newton's theory of universal gravitation. During his career, Kepler was a mathematics teacher at a seminary school in Graz, Austria, an assistant to astronomer Tycho Brahe, the court mathematician to Emperor Rudolf II, a mathematics teacher in Linz, Austria, and an adviser to General Wallenstein. He also did fundamental work in the field of optics, invented an improved version of the refracting telescope (the Keplerian Telescope), and helped to legitimize the telescopic discoveries of his contemporary Galileo Galilei. Kepler lived in an era when there was no clear distinction between astronomy and astrology, but there was a strong division between astronomy (a branch of mathematics within the liberal arts) and physics (a branch of natural philosophy). • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannes_Kepler .

Professor Stephen Hawking Takes Zero-Gravity Flight
ZERO-G(TM) and its sponsors, Space Florida and The Sharper Image, flew world-renowned physicist and cosmologist Professor Stephen Hawking into weightlessness today, performing eight parabolas, out of the Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Central Florida. It was the first time Professor Hawking, the world's leading expert on gravity, had a zero-gravity experience.

Stephen Hawking Takes a Zero-Gravity Flight
http://www.FreeScienceLectures.com ZERO-G(TM) and its sponsors, Space Florida and The Sharper Image, flew world-renowned physicist and cosmologist Professor Stephen Hawking into weightlessness today, performing eight parabolas, out of the Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Central Florida. It was the first time Professor Hawking, the world's leading expert on gravity, had a zero-gravity experience. After the flight Stephen Hawking had to say the following: "The zero-g (0g) part was wonderful and the high-g part was no problem. I could had gone on and on. Space here I come!" --- It's Never too Late to Study: http://www.FreeScienceLectures.com --- Notice: This video is copyright by its respectful owners. Lec 22 801 Physics I Classical Mechanics Fall 1999
anyone else. But finally he arrived at two... three golden eggs. And the first golden egg then is that the orbits are ellipses-- he talked always about planets-- and the Sun is at one focus. That's Kepler's law number one. These are from around 1618 or so. The second... Kepler's second law is-- quite bizarre how he found that out, an amazing accomplishment. If you take an ellipse, and you put the Sun here at a focus-- this is highly exaggerated because I told you that most orbits look sort ...
